Guidelines

Eligibility: Candidates eligible to submit a proposal include full-time faculty members of this institution with an interest in Thoracic Cancer, subject only to the appropriate NIH and institutional guidelines.

The criteria for selection of Projects for funding are:

  1. Translational and basic science aims consistent with the stated goals of the NCI SPORE;
  2. Scientific impact (significance and innovation) and anticipated efficiency (feasibility, approach, environment);
  3. Alignment with the scope of the SPORE to prevent, timely diagnose, characterize and treat thoracic cancers, with an emphasis to interception of therapy resistance.
  4. Past SPORE or other program/collaborative grant funded productivity when appropriate as measured by publications of original research regarding SPORE-appropriate aims, and, in select cases, by the investigator’s previously-proposed definitive intermediate endpoints (such as successful patient accrual).

Applications must contain the following components:

  1. A proposal (preferably one page, no more than two pages) that includes Introduction, Specific Aims, Significance and Innovation Statements, brief Approach, intra-SPORE/intra-institutional collaborative aspects, and a brief timetable.
  2. A 5-page NIH biosketch of the principal investigators.
  3. Other support page of the principal investigators.

There is not a template for the research plan. Please just make sure it is in pdf format when submitted.
