Guidelines

Timing: Applications are due by Friday, September 26, 2025. Awards will be announced in November for funding beginning January 1, 2026. It is expected that at least four awards will be made this cycle. 

Eligibility: Each proposal must include an SKCCC Member as principal investigator (PI) or co-principal investigator (Co-PI). Only faculty are eligible to serve as PIs for this application. Faculty may only serve as PI on one application but can serve as Co-Investigators on more than one. The proposal cannot be duplicative with other funding at the time of the award. Overlap will be assessed by SKCCC staff on a Just-In-Time model. 

Funding: Award term of one year. Budgets between $50,000 - $100,000 direct cost will be accepted. Indirect costs are not allowed. Allowable costs include personnel, supplies, and equipment. Faculty salary can be included or excluded.

Applications will be submitted online and will consist of:

  1. Coversheet, which will be found on the host website.
  2. Research proposal of 2 pages or less, including figures but not references.
    1. Specific aims
    2. Significance
    3. Background, including preliminary studies of the applicant
    4. Research Design, including data systems to be utilized
  3. References
  4. One page budget and budget justification that describes how the funding will be allocated among personnel, supplies, and equipment. Budgets up to $100,000 direct costs can be proposed. No indirect costs can be included.   
  5. An NIH-style biosketch for the PI and Co-PI’s (if applicable). 

Review Process: Final funding decisions will be made by the SKCCC research council. 

Post-Award Requirements: Recipients must complete a final progress report and provide information on publications, reports of invention, or sustainable products enabled by this award. No cost extensions beyond the year of funding will be considered provided an interim progress report demonstrates progress towards the proposed research goals.
